SOFTWARE

Zonge programs include one year of prepaid maintenance. Updated copies are available upon request: include the program name, version, and serial number (if any). Maintenance contracts are available for additional years to provide updates and requests for support. Send your requests to zonge@zonge.com

INSTALLATION

Program files are normally copied from CD-ROM to a single hard-disk subdirectory, such as c:\DATPRO. The directory can be included on your environment variable PATH, so that the programs can be run from a separate data directory.

On a Windows computer, the PATH may be changed in:
Control Panel | System | Advanced | Environment Variables | System variables | Path
Enter the path of your program subdirectory after the initial Windows entries, ensuring that each path entry is followed by a semicolon ";" like "c:\datpro;". The command window (MS DOS) environment will not use more than 128 characers of the PATH, so the program directory needs to be included before that limit.

Files copied from CD-ROM have their "attributes" set to "read-only". Files that need to be modified or updated need to be writable (not "read-only"). The Properties of each file may be used to change "read-only" attributes, or entire directories may have attributes for all files changed (recommended).

MODELING and new DATA PROCESSING PROGRAMS

Modeling programs are normally protected with a "dongle" (USB device).

A complete set of model programs may be distributed. Users will be able to run only those model programs for which keys (registration programs) are provided. Additional keys are available for the other programs. ONE dongle is normally provided for each modeling program so that one user at a time may operate the program. TWO dongles are normally provided for each data processing program, so that two users (office and field) may operate the program.

Software protection files (dongle drivers) are included on the dongle and will install automatically when the dongle is first attached to a computer.

Notes are included below under PROTECTION that provide alternatives.

PROTECTION

Hardware "Dongle" Protection:
The Dongle is expected to be plugged into one of your USB ports.

A small registration programs will run in a DOS window when requested by the main program. The DOS window must close without attention from the user, otherwise the program will appear to stop running. You should be able to run the registration program by itself by double-clicking on the file. A DOS window should briefly appear, quickly closing by itself without any messages being displayed.

UTILITIES

Plotting of modeled data by using Geosoft Oasis or Golden Software SURFER may be assisted by using programs provided on separately on the CD-ROM. Any utility program that you wish to use should be copied to the same directory containing the model programs, and that is included on your PATH.

New data processing programs may write plots to files using the PNG or WMF format, and do not require special programs to view these plots.

Plot files written by legacy data processing programs may use a filename extension of ".Xnn" or ".PLT". These files contain instructions using the HPGL plotter format. There are several programs available to display and print these files. Zonge includes a copy of the View Companion Standard program, and a license serial number.

The files for View Companion are normally copied to the C:\LIB directory:
1. VC5xx.EXE   (installation program, 'xx' is the version number)
2. vc16xx.txt   (license serial number, 'xx' is the Zonge DATPRO number)
3. vcZonge.vpt   ("pen control file" containing Zonge color and line data)

Run the installation program to install the View Companion Standard program. Run the View Companion program. It will prompt you to enter your serial number. Copy your serial number from the text file "vc16xx.txt".

Copy the file "vcZonge.vpt" to C:\PROGRAM FILES\ViewCompanion Standard\Samples.
In View Companion, open the "\Tools\Pen Table" dialog.
Under "Pen Table Settings", select all options.
Press the browse button on the right side of the pen table name field, then find the "vcZonge.vpt" file.
Plots will now be displayed with the Zonge configuration for pen color and line width.
